Aristeides Doulaveras, Associate Professor

Aristeides N. Doulaveras was Associate Professor of Folklore at the Department of History, Archaeology and Cultural Resources Management of the University of the Peloponnese.

He received his Bachelor degree with honours from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Ioannina (1972). Gaining a scholarship from the Greek Ministry of Education he pursued postgraduate studies at the Institute of Education at the University of London (1984). In 1988 he completed his Ph.D in Folkloric Studies with honours at the University of Ioannina. 

He served in Secondary education as teacher, School Director, Director in a Post-Secondary Center and as School Adviser for Philologists in the Counties of Achaia and Corinth. He was also Deputy Director of the Regional Training Center (RTC) of Patras and Director of the RTC of Tripoli.

He taught at the University of the Peloponnese the following courses: Introduction to Greek Folklore; Morals and customs; Social structure; Folk Art; Proverbial Discourse; Modern Greek Fairy-Tale; Monuments of the Folk Speech.

During 2011-2012 he served at the Senate of the University of the Peloponnese as representative of the Department of History, Archaeology and Cultural Resources Management.

He has published 15 books on Folklore, Ancient and Modern Greek Literature. Many of his essays and papers (over 100), as well as numerous book reviews are published in various folklore, literary and educational journals. He has presented his research in numerous Greek and international conferences and has given many lectures and speeches.

He is a member of scientific associations and societies.
