Department of History, Archaeology and Cultural Resources Management

Since 2003, the Department of History, Archaeology and Management of Cultural Property has been harmonizing the traditional sciences of History and Archaeology with the modern scientific field of Cultural Management.

It is the first University Department nationwide to combine these disciplines in the undergraduate degree. With an emphasis on interdisciplinarity, it focuses on the sustainable management of cultural resources, especially cultural heritage.

The pioneering character of the Department is further enhanced by the Laboratories of Archaeometry, Maritime Archaeology and Modern and Contemporary History, as well as the University Archaeological Museum Collection.

Based in Kalamata DHACRM keeps pace with international research developments. It offers trainees a solid, broad theoretical background as well as necessary practical skills to meet the future challenges and perspectives of the disciplines it treats.
