This course is an introduction to the archaeology and art of the Early Byzantine period (4th7th centuries AD). It examines the urbanism, domestic architecture, religious architecture, sculpture, floor and wall mosaics, painting, manuscript illumination and minor arts (metalwork, ivory, pottery) of this period.
