Helen Saradi, Professor

Helen Saradi is Professor of Byzantine History and Byzantine Civilization. She graduated from the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Athens and had her graduate studies in Byzantine History at the Université de Montréal (master, PhD). She worked at the University of Athens and taught Classics and Byzantine Studies at Universities in Canada, at the Universities of Patras and of the Peloponnese. Her research interests are in the areas of the Byzantine notarial system and related legal and social issues, in the Byzantine cities, Byzantine rhetoric and in the classical tradition in Byzantium. She published 3 monographs, about 70 papers, edited 11 works and has presented over 70 papers in conferences. She taught seminars in several academic institutions, among which Dumbarton Oaks (Ηarvard), King’s College (London University), Εxeter College (Οxford), École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris). She organized 7 conferences and holds various administrative positions in universities and research institutes.
